PRESS RELEASE on COVID-19 from National Parents Council Post Primary (NPCPP)
25 March 2020
The National Parents Council Post Primary wish to re-emphasise the messages delivered by President Higgins, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris, and the National Public Health Emergency Team that physical distancing is critical to the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Keep Your Distance
Young and healthy students are extremely effective vectors to carry and spread this dreadful and lethal disease back to their own family and friends.
COVID-19 is a highly infectious and easily transmitted virus. The dangers resulting from congregating closely in groups is very real and can result in serious illness and death of family members and friends.
The NPCPP asks all young people to play their part to protect their community by taking physical distancing seriously. The best way to protect your family and friends from being struck down by this horrible disease is to physically keep your distance from each other and to practice good personal hygiene – wash your hands thoroughly and often.
This COVID-19 scourge will not last forever but ignoring the requirement to observe ‘safe distance’ will only prolong the lifespan of the disease.
The NPCPP thank all of those who are already keeping their distance - keeping each other safe.
The quicker we can beat this virus the quicker we can get back to normal life.
We can communicate and keep in touch with friends and family through social media in the meantime, enjoying each other’s company safely on-line.
Keep your distance. Wash your hands. Play Your Part. Stay safe and well.
