Presentation Secondary School students enjoy many musical activities from traditional through to Choral and the annual School Musical.

The enjoyment of traditional music has of recent years been reflected in school by “The Pres Trad Group”, many of whom are prize winners in Fleadh Cheoil etc. They play fiddle, flutes, low whistle, accordion and harp. These talented girls have a love of music which is infectious.

Presentation Secondary School has two choirs. Our school choir practices every Tuesday at lunch. It is a three-part choir and there are approximately 60 members ranging from 1st year to Leaving Cert. The repertoire is varied from classical to popular, as well as preparing for our school musicals, shows and masses. Our second school choir is the Chamber Choir. The chamber choir has approximately 30 members ranging from 1st to 6th years, and they practice every Thursday at lunch time. This choir competes in local and national competitions (for example, Feis Maithiu, Cork Choral Festival and Limerick Choral Festival, and experiences great success

We produced our first school musical “Back to the Eighties” in May 2013, and following that success, we produced “Greased Lightening” in May 2014. Students in 1st, 2nd, Transition Year and 5th Year (in both the Presentation and CBS) are involved in the school musicals(excluding examination classes), and participation is encouraged in all aspects of the production (dance, acting, singing, set design, costume design, artwork, backstage, sound and lighting, etc).
Over the coming years, we are planning to produce the following musicals: Mamma Mia (rehearsals begin September 2015), High School Musical and Hairspray, to name but a few.
