A mix of emotions swept through Presentation Secondary School last Thursday as our Leaving Certificate students said goodbye to what has been their second home for five or six years now.
There was excitement for what lies ahead but also a loneliness at the thought of leaving behind friends, teachers, and amazing memories.
Fr Patrick Cahill celebrated a beautiful mass and in his homily he reminded the girls that God has a plan for each and every one of them. He encouraged them to take time in their lives to deepen their faith. The girls sang beautiful hymns, accompanied by their music teacher, Ms Edel McEniry.
At the end of the mass, the sixth years received their graduation certificate, a gift from the school and the Gasice Awards were presented.
Head Girl, Jade Quirke addressed her peers for the last time in an emotional and entertaining speech. Clodagh Hyland, representing Leaving Cert Applied, also spoke reminiscing of the years gone by.
Lorraine Kelly and Tara Curtin brought a impressive twist to the evening as they presented teachers with ‘positive slips’ in a heartfelt bid to show appreciation to all staff for their years of hard work and commitment.
The evening came to a close with a final farewell from Acting Principal, Ms Lorraine O’Keeffe, who recognised the wonderful achievements of this bunch of ladies and wished them the world of luck as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
This group of ladies will be missed!
