Pres students visit DePuy Synthes

A group of Transition Year and 5th year science students visited DePuy Synthes on Thursday April 23rd. The students were given a presentation by Jim Mc Grath, head of the Innovation Centre about careers in science and engineering. He also gave the students an insight into the work carried out at DePuy Synthes in Cork. The students were then given a tour of the plant where they saw knee and hip replacement joints being made. The trip concluded with a visit to the wind turbine where Donal Og Cusack explained to the students about the use of wind powered electricity at the plant. The students were on a high leaving DePuy Synthes inspired and motivated to follow a career in science and technology.

DePuy Synthes is part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. It produces orthopaedic and neuro products and services for joint reconstruction, trauma, spine, sports medicine, neuro, cranio-maxillofacial, power tools and biomaterials.
