The inaugural CEIST student leadership conference was held recently in St. Patrick’s college, Dublin.
Jade Quirke (Head Girl), Clodagh Hyland and Laura Guerin (Student Council members) represented Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown. These girls were chosen to attend as they demonstrate strong leadership qualities within the school. It is students in our schools today that will be the leaders of tomorrow and so our trustee body, CEIST, is committed to playing a part in preparing them for that role.
Dr. Marie Griffin, CEO of CEIST, welcomed the group. Following a morning prayer, students divided into groups and attended various workshops on leadership.
Our girls had a chance to meet with students from other CEIST schools and explore the possibilities of leadership as well as the values associated with being good leaders.
All in attendance were addressed by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, who spoke openly about his own experiences and encouraged students to believe in themselves and be the best leaders they can possibly be.
